Alnwick to Edinburgh in 7 minutes

with one comment

Back in the 1960s, my grandparents made an incredible home video. They recorded their trip from Alnwick to Edinburgh - a trip of around 90 miles reduced to 7 minutes!

From what I understand, they mounted the camera to the car’s dashboard and then my grandmother had to press the camera shutter every eight seconds or so. It’s amazing to see the old cars and trucks on the road, and then right at the end there’s a brand new Mini!

It’s also fun to see how little time they spend behind other cars - as soon as one comes up they’ve overtaken it!

  1. this old footage is remarkable.i would have been 8years old when this was filmed.its fantastic to see all those old vehicles on the road.i downloaded the film to realplayer where you can slow it down.gives you a longer look at the old cars buses and lorries.i can actually remember when these old vehicles were on the road all those years ago.i think the driver of the car who took the film was a bit dangerous though, overtaking on blind bends and so forth lol.
